Pilot / Beta Contest

Last updated: October 30, 2026

This contest is operated by NENCDirect ("Sponsor"). By registering for and participating in a Merchant Passport contest, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.

2. Pilot Contest Notice

This is a pilot/beta contest. Sponsor reserves the right to adjust, correct, or clarify these rules more freely than in future, established contests, provided such changes are posted on the platform before taking effect.

3. Trial Participant Obligations

  • Nondisclosure: By participating in this trial contest, you agree not to disclose to any third party information you become privy to regarding the development of the contest, its platform, interfaces, scoring mechanics, or other non-public details encountered through your participation.
  • Exit Interview: You agree to participate in an exit interview or survey at the conclusion of the trial contest. Currituck Digital and/or NENCDirect may ask questions regarding your use of the contest and its interfaces, ease of use, difficulties encountered, and similar feedback, for the purpose of analysis and improving the contest.

4. Eligibility

  • Participants must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Participants must complete registration, email validation, and a full profile before check-ins count toward any contest.
  • Employees of Currituck Digital or NENCDirect are not eligible to participate or win prizes.
  • Employees, owners, and immediate family members of a participating merchant location are not eligible to win prizes in a contest featuring that merchant, but may participate for non-prize tracking.

5. Location Data & Consent

By participating, you acknowledge and agree that during the course of the contest, the website and application will access location information generated by your mobile device's GPS and geolocation services in order to record check-ins. You may disable location access at any time through your device settings, but doing so may prevent you from completing certain check-in methods.

6. Contest Period

Each contest runs for approximately 30 days, as shown on the participant's contest dashboard. Check-ins are only counted during the active contest window.

7. How to Participate

  • Join an open contest from your dashboard (a limit may apply to how many active contests you can join at once).
  • Earn points by visiting and checking in at participating merchant locations using any available check-in method (in-store code, drive-up/vicinity, or NFC/QR tap).
  • Points accumulate toward eligibility for prizes. Full scoring details are available in your account after registration.

8. Prizes

  • Prizes and prize thresholds are described separately for each contest and are subject to change contest-to-contest.
  • Cash prizes are limited to a maximum of $600 per contest, per winner.
  • A cash prize winner is ineligible to win another cash prize for 6 months following their win date.
  • Prize fulfillment timing, notification method, and any substitution rights will be specified per contest.

9. Fair Play

  • One account per person; duplicate or fraudulent accounts will be disqualified.
  • Falsifying location, gaming check-in methods, or otherwise manipulating the check-in system is grounds for disqualification and forfeiture of points and prizes.
  • Sponsor reserves the right to review, adjust, or void points or check-ins found to violate these Terms.

10. Dispute Resolution

In the event of a tie, a contested check-in, or any other dispute arising from a contest, the matter will be resolved at the sole discretion of Currituck Digital, whose decision is final.

11. Privacy

  • No personally identifying information is released to participating merchant sponsors or other third parties.
  • Geolocation information, including check-ins, has all personally identifying information stripped before merchants can view it. Merchants only see a pattern of check-ins and times, tied to an alias assigned to each participant — never a participant's name, contact information, or account details.
  • Participating merchants may access an interface on the platform allowing them to send participants who have checked in at their location, during the contest, an email containing special offers. Merchants do not have access to participants' email addresses; messages are routed through the platform on the merchant's behalf.
  • Participant activity is logged for audit and fraud-prevention purposes.

12. Changes & Cancellation

Sponsor may modify contest rules, or extend, shorten, or cancel a contest at its discretion, with notice posted on the platform.

13. Limitation of Liability

Participation is voluntary. Sponsor and participating merchants are not liable for injury, loss, or damages arising from contest participation, including travel to check-in locations.
